Are those who are cremated able to be risen from the dead at Christ's return?
That is an interesting question that seems to bother a lot of people.
I don't understand the problem, for Jesus said
"And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. "(Matt 10:28)
The Greek word "hell" here is "Gehanna" which was a actual valley just outside Jerusalem where rubbish was burned. This is used by Jesus as a metaphore for the Lake of fire, as explained in this previous post:
This does not mean we should fear any person that can destroy anyone in a fire, but it is referring to God who can destroy you in the second death, in the Lake of Fire, after the second resurrection, mentioned in Revelation.
At this time Hell itself is cast into the Lake of Fire:
"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death."
(Rev 20:14)
Both death and hell are going to be destroyed.
The word "hell" here is the word "hades" which simply means the grave. By saying "death and hell were cast into the lake of fire." he is saying that there will be no more death, and nobody will be buried any more in the grave. All those who are alive will be immortal Son's of God.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
(Rev 21:4)
Many righteous martyrs have died by being burned at the stake- an horrific and evil practice performed by murdering evil people who claim to be Christian!
Nothing in scripture that I can see states that those who are burned, be it alive or dead, cannot be raised from the dead by Christ.
I imagine, but have no proof, that this idea is a pagan belief passed that has, like lots of other pagan beliefs, been preached as if it were in scripture.
We are warned to prove all things and hold fast to that which is good, I don't think this idea is true at all.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Can you share your thoughts on believers who have been cremated instead of being buried?
Will they still rise when Jesus comes?
Thanks DB
Great to hear from you.
